Lord, when the time comes please help me be strong
My furry friend is sick; something's terribly wrong
The vet checked him over; there's nothing he can do
I'm afraid soon I'll be sending him; home to You
Please take him back home; on the wings of a dove
Into Your loving arms; up in heaven above
Take him to a meadow; where he can play and run free
Under bright sunlight; among the green grass and trees
He's been a part of my life now; for so many years
I'll miss him so much; my eyes are filling with tears
Please give me the courage; to tell him good-bye
As I know He'll watch over me; through his loving eyes
I'll never forget him; I'll see him one day
Tell him we'll meet at the Bridge; then we'll go play
I'll cherish the memories; of the time we both had

B oxers are the best, I'll argue that with any
R egal and expensive they're sure worth every penny
O nly a face that us moms & dads can love
W rinkly and slobbery, they're just a step above
N o other dog comes close to them in their perfection
D are I say I love my Boxer without any reservation?
O ften people are frightened by their power and might
G reat protectors they are, but there's no need for fright
S weet and gentle when trained well right from the start
F orget all your fears, these dogs are all heart
O h they're filled with life and lots more pep than most
R eady for anything, as we Boxer lovers boast

I Thought of You Today
I woke early this morning, lifted the shade
to a sky overcast and gray.
No ray of sun to brighten my heart,
and I thought of you today.
The breezes of summer are no more
and have moved along on their way.
The crisp air of autumn has settled in,
and I thought of you today.
The crunch of the leaves under my feet,
I remembered how you loved to play,
chasing the leaves across the yard,
and I thought of you today.
As the daylight faded into dusk
and the shadows came to play,
I lit a candle and watched the flame dance,
and I thought of you today.
I crawled into bed, turned out the lamp
and glanced where you used to lay.
The tears came again, as they always do,
as I thought of you today.

Picking up the pieces of my broken heart.....
The task is rather daunting, I don't know where to start.....
I hold onto the memories and handle them with care.....
The emptiness and anguish is just too much to bare.....
There is nothing left inside of me except the tears I cry.....
'They' say it will get 'easier' as time passes by.....
The time we spent together, I will always hold so dear.....
You were taken from me much too soon,
we had still so much to share.....
Each day is full of sadness, bitterness and grief.....
I'm trying hard to 'let you go' but I am still in disbelief.....
You told me to find happiness and peace when you are gone.....
It's your presence and your strength I need, if I must carry on.....
Comfort only you can give me, may help the pain depart.....

Just this side of Heaven, before the Pearly Gates Is a sunny meadow where your pets can rest and wait. It's where the slanting sunshine meets the highest clouds, A floating bridge of rainbows, so far above the ground.
This is where we wait for you, if we have gone before, Just out of sight of mortals, just outside heaven's door; Here we play in sunshine, frolic free from age or pain, And anticipate the joyful time when we will meet again.
Every pet that's lived on Earth can bide his time, can wait, For that special person to come walking to the Rainbow Gates, And everyone who's loved a pet will find them safely here, Frolicking on Rainbow Bridge till your own time draws near.
One day there comes a feeling, a trembling in the air, And then we know it's time to run and come to meet you there, Faster and faster on that day, across Rainbow Bridge we'll run, To meet the humans we love best, come walking in the sun.
Alas my friend you cannot pass across Rainbow Bridge with me, But when your time for glory comes, waiting for you I'll be - Then together we will walk upon a path of glittering light, No more to suffer, nor to part, but to live forever side by side.

My best friend spoke to me last night
a soft whisper in my ear.
I woke up and looked around the room,
I was startled yet I had no fear.
My best friend said that all is fine
Rainbow bridge is so much more.
That there was so much love up there,
even a beautiful ocean shore.
There is fields and fields of green green grass
and the sky has different shades of blue.
There are flowers, mountains, trees and clouds,
everything they said it was, is true.
My best friend whispered in my ear last night
saying "Please don't cry or be sad.
That what was done, had to be done,
for me to live my life now so be glad".
My best friend said that I did the right thing
an unselfish act on my part.
And that this pain & sadness I feel
will be gone soon from my heart.
I asked my best friend "How could this be
I miss you so much everyday.
That my heart hurts so much for you,
I wish there could of been another way".
My best friend whispered in my ear last night
"You will always be in my heart.
Go on & live and love another,
because we will never really be apart".
My best friend whispered in my ear last night
"it's time for me to go towards the light.
I just wanted to stop & say to you
go on my best friend, I'll be alright.
I carry your unconditional love with me
I have done this from the very start".
I whispered back to my best friend last night,
"I'll always love you with all my heart."
So good-bye my best friend as I looked up at the sky
a shooting star I see in a straight line.
Moving fast across the sky & out of sight,
I whispered,
"Good -bye my best friend, now,
I'll be just fine".

It's Never Easy

It's never easy to say good-byes,
When they speak to us with their eyes.
When their bodies are tired, weak and old,
And the love we've shared becomes pure gold.
The measure of friendship is put to the test,
When the showing is finished and it's time to rest.
From deep in their hearts their eyes will ask,
" Please ease my pain " - your most difficult task.
There's joy in the memories, treasure them all,
Winning a ribbon or chasing a ball.
So go now, you're free, to run and to play,
Where the sun always shines, day after day.
For the Master you serve now is gracious and fair,
And he'll love you and guide you until I am there.

We stumble through life so blind,
Only our hearts can see the love we find.
To others it all remains a mist,
A fog that shrouds our loving bless.
For they can not see what our hearts have found,
the joy of this love that abounds.
It springs with life and fills the air,
and returns itself free of fare.
What is this love, you all ask?
Look into the eyes of your animal and hold them fast!
For it is their love that runs so true,
and their hearts they share with you.
So to all creatures great and small,
in our hearts there is room for all.
